Hommage

In her video work, the artist explores the intangible, fluid, and elusive transition between what still exists and what has already disappeared. It seems we are witnessing a shift from one pole to another, standing at the very heart of a transitional moment that may signify either a departure or an arrival. The video was created during the lockdown and isolation caused by the coronavirus pandemic, when the artist relocated and worked from her home in Oplotnica. Through her studio window, she observed the cypresses as they continually changed throughout the year under varying light and weather conditions. Fascinated by the subtle transformations in atmosphere, she decided to record both the passage of time in quarantine and the daily ritual of creating in the studio. The video is projected onto transparent paper suspended from the ceiling in the center of the space. This setup allowed visitors to walk around the projection surface and view the video from multiple angles, their shadows softly falling onto the paper. The translucent surface of the tracing paper reflects the fragility and layering that also characterize the artist’s drawings, while the video’s slow, meditative rhythm invites the viewer into a liminal space—between the visible and the vanishing, the material and the spiritual.
