In the drawing series Shadows, the artist focuses on depicting natural phenomena that are part of her everyday experience. The drawings portray real or imagined shadows, tree canopies, and branches whose clarity dissolves into the haze of a misty day. A defining feature of the works is their mode of spatial presentation—the drawings function as spatial objects and, through an installation-based approach, establish a meditative, atmospheric ambiance.
The drawing titled Trees for Stairwell was created specifically for the house where the artist lived and worked during her residency. It extended along the entire staircase, with its motifs gradually revealed to viewers as they ascended the steps. Carefully rendered plant fragments, suspended in an apparent non-space, nonetheless seem to ascend continually toward their eternal destination—the source of light.
